I find the concept of God to be a product of man, and from a psychological standpoint the idea within the mind of a given person with the Idea of God inside their head alters the perception upon the world as it passes.
This would somewhat explain why upon research upon the “God gene” that upon religious practices certain parts of the brain become more active than others.
No offience to any Christians out there but God is simply a way for people to cope with the idea of the questions that they themselves could not answer alone. It is far easier to claim an all powerful being is to blame for all our questions.
As this was the very purpose itself in matters of what is now known as common mythology, so is the reason for this.

ah, you seem to have missed my point we are in a way all God, These very concepts of belief, These “Gods” are what we all have within us all.
There are those who go through life searching for the answer and yet find nothing.
There are those who fight to the death in the pointless blood baths we call war, Just for the reason that they believe there God/Gods to be the only true one.
I’m not saying your belief is wrong, quite the contrary, I’m saying that because you believe he’s real makes him real to you.
I find the human subconscious a remarkable thing, for It has the power to change to very fabric of reality through the eyes of the person housing the thought.
However if you wish to cause a debate, may I remind you that Christianity is a fairly new belief and there hundreds all similar and yet defferent you claim god created the universe and all life, but how do you know? You read it in a book that was written by man in the desert? Was he there to witness creation? Who was?
You see if what you say were true God would have been alone at the start so how and why would we find out about this 65 Billion years after the fact?

The point being not everyone is happy that this has become the legacy of affirmative action, but it IS a dirty little secret of it. As long as speech is not blatantly disruptive and harmful to society–and I mean terrorist activity, mass uprising, and death all around–say what you want.
I think censorship is a personal responsibility. We recently gave up cable television. We have a few movies that we let our kids watch, but otherwise we don’t watch television. We listen to radio sometimes, and that’s it. We can EASILY control what our children are exposed to. If we don’t want our kids hearing filthy language, language that promotes lifestyles we disagree with, etc., we are not obligated to expose either ourselves or our children to it. Sure, I miss getting to watch True Blood and Game of Thrones–but from what I understand the books are better, anyway. And it’s not worth the expense every month when, for the same amount of money, I can just buy the entire series when it comes out on DVD. If I don’t like what someone has to say on the internet, I can turn off my computer. We have a few games our kids play on the iPad, but we shut off WiFi every time they do it. Our kids will have a lifetime to decide for themselves what garbage they want in their lives. We don’t have to bother them with it at this stage.
But that doesn’t mean that anyone out their in news and entertainment isn’t free to say what they want because it might hurt someone’s virgin ears. They have no control over that. Parents do.
The person who’s more likely to support censorship is the one with a dog in the fight. Gays don’t like to hear that they can’t get married just like straight folks. The cool thing to do right now is shut up those who believe that homosexuality and gay marriage are harmful to society under the rubric of “hate speech” and “bullying.” IF those things really are moral issues and really are detrimental to society, then, no, nobody has the right to engage in those things because of the harm they do to society at large. There are a whole bunch of murderers in prison…do THEY get to be a protected class? No? Then if something else…anything else…is shown (IF it is indeed shown) to pose a threat or harm to society, then the right thing to do is speak out against it. Murder, homosexuality, spitting on the sidewalk, whatever… That doesn’t mean we’re all always going to get our way, obviously. But censorship has consistently worked in favor of those with agendas.
It appears to me that the agendas being pushed the hardest with the greatest calls for censorship are statist agendas, and this has historically often been the case…classic example being the Stalin regime. And don’t even get me started on North Korea. I’d say coming in at a close second would be theocracies.

So humans have their complex languages..collective intelligence..school for 18 years..or so…or more..maze of religions..selling almost everything with sex..and work with no visible product to touch feel and appreciate to contribute to others..or even see the response of thank you for their contribution to the village…
Meanwhile..the hawk flows gracefully in the golden spiral around the Sun…
I choose to be the hawk…
When i’m not playing the game..of culture…:)
i’m even getting good at being the hawk while playing the game of culture…

But in the Assembly of GOD church the overriding message is that tithing is everything…
And making fun of the Muslim and Buddhist religions…
And oh my GOD the southern Baptist church last night i went..to last night…
Was the f***ing ignorant fire and brim stone stuff about even if you are 101 years old in a nursing home…
and ya tell us ya do not want to be saved…
We think you are going to hell..eternal hell..much longer than 101 years….
And oh my god..they had the audacity..to even talk about such foolishness from the pulpit…
I wanted to vomit just a little bit..but i held my anthropologist participant observer smile…
To keep the folks giving me their fully honest opinions about their way of religion….
That one was the type of religion my wife was raised in..and i’ve had to assure her through our entire marriage…

Just try to do what you feel is ethical the next time around…
Well for all practical intents and purpose…

And zero percent under 30 except for one little girl..tagged along with her parents…
Granted it was a gospel singing..but still..
There is no longer anything there of use per true reward that society cannot meet except…
And a big exception that is truly sad…
Is that truly ethical churches..can provide an excellent source of real human connections through out the life span..
that a person without an extended family may find no other place in life..in a dancing with the stars..and superwalmart society..overall….
These type of human connections are being lost across the globe..
And in Japan where virtual reality..has over taken the real world..per real human connections in flesh and blood life..
The clean up crews come to clean up what is left of solitary old folks…
That have no REAL HUMAN CONNECTIONS in real life..
to even know

exist…
Human beings are social animals…
This is the saddest thing possible for a social animal..in full reality of what they are evolved for..
To be left alone in real flesh and blood life…
That is the one thing..that churches can overcome…
For folks in real life..without those extended families…
And it is a life or death thing for some folks..as it could make the difference between someone checking up on someone..who is sick…

Well..if religion is a mental illness so is culture in general as the two cannot be separated..and have been part of human cultures..as per all the archaeological evidence that points this way…
Our complex abstract languages…collective intelligence..and or complex cultures and religion..are great comforters in the battle against the ‘unknown’ or perceived ‘chaos’ in life..
But they can and do stifle basic animal freedom..just to be alive and exist..in homeostasis…
If there is any mental illness today as religion per se..culture in general is also even more so responsible..for going against..simple animal nature…
To please the rest of the ‘herd’….the illusion of herd..that culture can bring….
The herd is in effect insane..in our modern culture..the maverick just stopped outside to have a ‘smoke’…
long enough to figure this out….

Deep and all of that….
But just common sense too..that’s the hardest part for many folks..as common sense..can become what the herd wants too…
Instead of just living common sense..in the now..like most animals do….
to keep themselves…
Turned on..in the now
( or mindful awareness and all that eastern religion stuff)
to simply escape the illusions of manmade cultures….religion or whatever….
